We live in a world that moves really quick from one side to another, and we need to calm down and focus on our emotions.
Pandemic has shown us the importance about connecting with our bodies and all the things we are feeling, so we can stay calm even in those moments when we feel stressed about different situations or because of the uncertainty that some situations can leave us.
We’ve talk to you about meditation and how important it is to us here at Maka. Now we are going to talk about mindfulness and why you should consider making it part of your routine for this 2021.
What is mindfulness?
It is a kind of meditation where you are conscious about what you are experimenting and feeling in a particular moment without feeling you’re going to be judged for that. It means keeping conscious about your thoughts, feelings, sensations, and environment in a nutritive way.
This process also needs acceptance, so you have to pay attention to your feelings and thoughts without judging them as good or bad because they are a part of a specific moment. When you practice mindfulness you can think about what you feel in the present, not about what happened or going to happen.
Mindfulness benefits
Over the years, more benefits of this practice have been discovered. Many more studies are expected to come out than is achievable.
#1. Helps with your memory
A study by Ashish Jha in 2010 showed that mindfulness meditation is related to our memory capacity. The study showed that memory increased in those who practiced this type of meditation, having a much more positive effect than the rest.
#2. Decrease in stress levels
Mindfulness practice is related to decreased stress levels. A study by a specialist named Brannstrom showed that cancer patients who performed this practice significantly reduced stress. In addition, they achieved much more positive thoughts.
#3. Helps manage physical pain
Some studies suggest that mindfulness may play a role in helping to manage pain. A specialist named Kieszkowska-Grudny’s studied in 2016 how these practices can help manage chronic pain and quality of life.
Start changing your thoughts!
It is not easy to see the positive side of everything or manage our emotions, but with these practices, it is much easier to learn to do it from our individuality and experiences. We know it’s not something that happens overnight, but it’s amazing to see our growth in the process.
