With ups and downs, learnings and mistakes, 2021 is about to say goodbye… How fast! Hopefully this year you’ve been able to get to know and love yourself a little more, and I’m sure right now you’re tallying up those goals you set at the beginning, right?

Many of us write down our goals at the beginning of the year and start motivated to accomplish them. Sometimes we stick to them until the last month, but other times we leave them halfway because our priorities have changed or because they were forgotten somewhere we don’t even remember.

Why does this happen? There are many reasons, and what we want with this article is not to make you think about those goals that you forgot or simply could not materialize, but to help you think about everything you want to achieve in 2022 in a realistic way so you can accomplish it and feel as satisfied as when you see your hair heal.

When we think of a goal, we might picture the finish line in a race, and in reality, that’s what it feels like to have goals. You set out to reach that finish line and you have to start running and prepare yourself to be able to finish your race. You can either get tired in the process and throw in the towel or keep going (we love the second option!).

Why do I fail to meet my goals?

Before we start telling you how to prepare your goals for the coming year, let’s ask you this: if you failed, why do you think you did?

We want to tell you that there is something important that we don’t think about many times: we are not honest and down to earth when we write down our goals. We think big and that’s great, but we must be realistic with our time, capabilities, and possibilities. So, you may have a goal to buy your first car (for example), but how willing are you to do what it takes to get there?

When we set very big goals, what ends up happening is that we feel disappointed when we do not achieve them and we are sure that we will not be able to achieve anything, but what we should change is not the goal, but the way in which we set it. Maybe instead of saying that you are going to buy a car, you will say that you will start saving to buy one, and in two years you will be able to do it (maybe it is less or more).

Bottom line: be realistic! Don’t think it’s too much time or others could do it faster, focus on yourself.

How to prepare for my goals?

There is no right answer to this because all humans are different and everyone is served by something different, but we want to share with you some general tips that can help you until you get that one thing that works for you and brings good results to you. Let’s get started!

#1. Start by asking yourself what you want to achieve. This is completely up to you: a trip, a house, a car? Only you have the answer and should not rush to get the question. The important thing is to pinpoint your 2022 goals (always be realistic!).

#2. Commit and take it seriously. After you have consciously and realistically chosen your goals, decide that you will work and do your part to see them materialize. And it’s not about overexerting yourself, it’s about remembering what you set out to do at the beginning of the year.

#3. Think about time. Set a time frame so you can track your progress. This is very important to know how well it has worked and what you should change (don’t be hard on yourself!).

#4. Set out the steps. Write it all down! And the more specific you are, the better. Write down everything you need to do to achieve those goals as if they were instructions.

#5. Learn to be flexible. There will be things that will cost you more than others, and the important thing is to be your best friend in the process and treat yourself with love, not pointing fingers or berating yourself.

We hope that with these tips you will be able to shape your goals for the coming year. Take advantage of these last few weeks of 2021 to reflect and give time to yourself

Success in what’s to come!

Love,

Maka.
