When it comes to hair, there are different situations that make us feel uncomfortable. Among them, we could say that having greasy hair is at the top of the list (it’s very frustrating!).
And although we know that there are solutions for frizz, hair loss or breakage, there is not one that completely solves the greasy issue. In fact, if we feel like we have oily hair, sometimes we must try different products.
Despite this, we’re going to tell you about some solutions, but let’s start at the beginning and most importantly…
Why does my hair gets and feel greasy?
Let’s start by telling you that there isn’t just one reason. In fact, there are many! And it all depends on the individual.
In fact, it’s natural for our hair to produce a certain amount of oil to moisturize and protect itself. And this amount of oil it produces will depend on our hair type, hygiene and general lifestyle (sweating every day is not the same as not sweating at all, for example).
It can happen that this oil accumulates at the root, giving the appearance of being dirty because it has been mixed with sweat. We have news for you about this: it’s normal! And it may even be unavoidable.
How can I control the oil in my hair?
The main thing is to start by having a good hair hygiene: washing your hair regularly and using a good shampoo is a very good way to start. Always keeping in mind that some hair accumulates more oil and with day to day activities could look very greasy in less time.
In those cases, here are our recommendations:
#1. Pay attention to the washing. Every hair is different! And although we often hear that it is not recommended to wash your hair every day, the reality is that it depends on each person. That’s why it’s so important to know what works for your hair and the products you’re using on it to avoid excess oil.
#2. Use products for oily hair. There are product lines specially made for oily hair like our oil control shampoo made with mint and rosemary that will help you deep cleanse. And when the amount of oil is reduced, your hair will stay cleaner and oil-free for longer.
#3. Ask yourself what kind of products you’re using! You’d be surprised how much the wrong products can affect your hair. So try to choose products specially designed for oily hair and make sure you shampoo (not just conditioner).
As you can see, the greasiness of our hair is not a negative thing: quite the opposite! It is a defense mechanism to protect it. Now, excessive oiliness will depend on the care we give it, so, as always, pay attention to the products you use and listen to your scalp.
You know: taking care of your hair is a sign of self-love.
Love,
Maka.
