Self-care is here to stay and we love it! Learn with us how to do it!
We love that, at this point in history, mental health is no longer taboo and self-care and self-esteem routines have become very important in the lives of many men and women around the world.
And if you’re not quite sure what self-care is, don’t worry! We know that nobody teaches us to give it to ourselves or how to do routines to cultivate it, so get ready because today you are going to learn a lot.
What is self-care?
Self-care is taking care of yourself so that you can be well and healthy. With this, you can do a better job, help yourself, and even take care of others, but you can not do any of that if you do not start by taking care of yourself.
With self-care, you perform a conscious act to take care of your physical, mental, and emotional health. Although we have always been taught to take care of our physical health, mental health is also very important, and there you get why you should start including a good self-care routine in your life.
Self-care is seen in ways as simple as getting enough sleep at night, taking a break, breathing fresh air if you need it, and sticking to a good work schedule that allows you to have time for yourself.
Types of self-care
There are five types of self-care that you should know so that you can achieve a balance between all these areas or work those that you consider that need more attention from you. Let’s see them:
#1. Mental. How do you think and fill your mind? Do you read and fill your mind with new knowledge? Are you going to the psychologist? Mental self-care is about that: cultivating your mind and working on it.
#2. Social. Socializing is VERY important to our self-care, but we don’t always make the time. Connecting with people we love is very necessary to distract us and take care of ourselves.
#3. Physical. Sleep well, eat properly, go to your medical appointments, exercise … All of this adds up to taking care of yourself physically.
#4. Spiritual. This does not always have to be related to religion, but it does always have to be related to activities that make you think deeply and review your relationship with your surroundings.
#5. Emotional. Do you accept your feelings or not? This is very important! Learning to process and understand your emotions is to take care of yourself and your relationship with others.
How to create your own self-care routine?
Now that you know what self-care is and what types there are, let’s learn how to create a routine so that your days are filled with a lot of love for yourself. Let’s go!
Ask yourself what makes you feel centered
Take a pencil and paper, and write down all those things that make you feel happy: going out with your friends, getting your hair treated, going to therapy, going to the movies … Everything you can think of!
Set goals to include self-care in your life every day
If self-care costs you, don’t worry!
As we told you at the beginning, they do not always teach us to take care of ourselves, so you must start by having goals so that you do not forget to fulfill that commitment that you are going to have with yourself.
Just as you should with any other goal in your life, make sure it’s realistic and measurable – so you can see your progress!
Plan everything
Are you more of an agenda, calendar, or to-do list?
No matter what the answer is, just make sure to include those activities that you are going to do. Here are some ideas:
All this includes hours and time so that you know that it is in your day and you must comply with it.
Now yes: you are officially ready for your self-care routine! We hope you enjoy the process and don’t think about anything but yourself.
