Have you ever wondered if the foods you eat have anything to do with the health of your hair? And if you haven’t, today we’re going to tell you a little more about this topic so you can understand how what you eat can impact the way your hair looks or feels

First things first: our diet CAN have an effect on our hair (although it’s not the only factor!). And just as with skin, hair is an outward sign of how you’re feeling on the inside

If you want your hair to look shiny and strong, one of the ways to achieve this is to have a balance of protein, vitamins and minerals in your diet. If you don’t include these types of foods or nutrients in your diet, it could look weak and start to fall out (important: the health of our hair is also due to age, genetic factors, weight loss and others).

Why is my hair not healthy?

Reminder: it’s not always due to diet. Although it’s an important factor and one you shouldn’t neglect, you also find that your hair doesn’t look or feel healthy because of:

Although there are different factors, we are going to focus on food, and we take this opportunity to remind you of the importance of taking care of your health with professionals who specialize in the area so you do not fall into diets that can affect you in the long term.

Which foods could help my hair?

Depending on your need, there are different foods that are going to help you, so here are a few:

Salmon

It is a good source of protein and omega 3. It is not necessary that your source of protein is salmon, but it is a recommendation to have your hair with strength and shine.

Nuts

If you like nuts, then you’ll LOVE these! They’re rich in healthy fats, fiber and protein, so how does that help your hair? With hair loss! A diet low in fat or protein can cause hair to fall out.

Eggs

They are rich in biotin, which helps with growth, and also helps prevent hair loss. Plus: biotin helps strengthen our nails.

Avocado

A favorite of many! It is a great source of good fats and vitamin E, which strengthens the membranes of our hair and is also an antioxidant that reduces the effect of free radicals.

Spinach

Yes, just like Popeye! It helps us with iron, calcium and vitamin A. Important: they all help us to strengthen, making hair grow stronger, hydrated and with less dandruff.

Remember that, in addition to the foods you eat, the health of your hair also depends on the other factors mentioned above. So, if you think it doesn’t look or feel healthy even when you are eating a balanced diet, the best thing to do is to see a professional in the area who can evaluate your situation and give you the best alternatives.

We hope these tips are helpful and encourage you to maintain a healthy diet that contributes to your lifestyle (and your hair!).

Love,

Maka.
