We know that each (or most) of the women who read us have their particular tastes in terms of how they like to fix their hair: leave it natural, straighten it, make it curl, cut it … In any case, the most important thing is that each one feel comfortable and happy with what you see in the reflection of your mirror.

Among all these styles, one of the most popular is straightening, be it with an iron, dryer or any other method. Many women love to see their hair perfectly straight and beautiful, and at Maka we love that they are happy with their results, but don’t forget that using too much heat on the hair or doing chemical treatments can have significant consequences.

Therefore, our goal is not to tell you to stop using heat on your hair or to stop doing what you like so much and makes you feel safe with yourself, but we do want you to know that there are ways to take care of your scalp in the process so the magic never ends.

Many times we only think about the result that we will have from a treatment or procedure, but we do not imagine what it will look like when this is over. That is the reason why we will always help you find ways to take care of your hair and protect it from any process.

Ready to get started? Let’s go with some good advice!

#1. Prepare your hair from the moment you shower

For this, you can use a softening and hydrating shampoo and conditioner. This will help you with the straightening process from before contacting the method of your choice. That way, you may have to expose yourself in the heat for less time. For this, we can recommend our moisturizing line (your best ally for this process!).

#2. Divide your hair very well when ironing or drying

Why? So you don’t have to go through the iron so many times! When you divide your hair well, you don’t need to go over the same area over and over again until each strand has been straightened. Before you begin, take a moment to separate into thinner sections so that they are perfect on the first pass.

#3. Let your hair dry before you start!

We know that hurry can be your enemy if you start drying or straightening your hair while it is wet. This is not recommended because it requires more heat passes until it dries, which will end up damaging your hair much more than it should.

#4. Don’t forget the thermal protector, ok?

We have already told you that the thermal protector can be your best friend for this and any year that comes, and it is a great ally to protect your hair from the heat it is going to receive. It will take you less than 5 minutes to apply the protector and take care of your hair. Trust us: it will be worth it!

#5. Use hair masks regularly

There are different masks for different needs, and their goal is to keep your hair hydrated and protected from the heat and from day to day. You can try using our hydrating mask or the oil control, depending on which one suits you best according to your type of scalp, and start to see the good results it has. Remember that the more allied products you have in the process to protect your hair, the better!

We hope these tips can be helpful and remind you that no matter the look you want in your hair, the important thing is that you protect it in every part of the process.
