A new year has arrived to accomplish new goals, to write down new dreams, and to think about the expectations we have written down in our checklist.

We are not only excited because of a new year starting, but we are happy to see that as time goes by, mental health is taking a more and more important place in our lives, and we begin to understand why we should pay attention to what we think and feel.

We want your 2022 to be a year for growth, change, and learning, but we also want you to feel good inside, so those smiles you give out on the outside are in communication with the peace of your mind. Did you include working on your mental health in your wishlist? We hope so!

Let’s start this 2022 by talking about an important topic that we shouldn’t feel sorry for it, is quite the opposite: we have to talk about it! Since Simone Biles said it out loud, we have seen important changes and millions of people being honest about how they feel.

Let this season be a time to set goals and cultivate habits to take care of your mental health. How? Let’s share three habits with you!

#1. Get a good sleep

Sleep does not mean neglecting your responsibilities or not being productive. In fact, when you sleep all your hours (at least 6 to 8) your body rests and you will be much more productive than you would be if you don’t sleep at all.

Also, when we sleep our mind rests and allows itself to disconnect from all the stress, thoughts, and worries we may have on a daily basis. It is as if we turn off the light for a while and turn it on again full of energy.

If you don’t rest properly, you are more likely to feel stress, irritation and affect your overall mood.

#2. Eat healthily and exercise

Giving ourselves love through our food is important for many reasons, but on a mental level, it can help us reduce anxiety and stress. And exercise? It helps us a lot with mood, depression, and stress by releasing serotonin and dopamine, the feel-good hormones.

#3. Practice gratitude

Although it may not seem like it, remembering all that you have in your life and what you can be grateful for is as important as eating right, exercising, or having a good sleep… We are not exaggerating!

Life can be difficult and hard, but gratitude gives us a different perspective to face those situations that don’t put us in the best mood

You can keep a journal in which you write down all the positive things that happen to you every day so you can see that you can be grateful for even the smallest things and not take anything for granted. This outlook on life will be good for your mental health and the way you perceive your surroundings.

We hope this is your year to grow and learn about yourself, to not let your mental health fall by the wayside so you can see how a different perspective can make a big change in your life.

Ready for 2022? We wish you the best!

Love,

Maka.
